2008 Scion xB Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the catalytic converter on 2008 Scion xB?
A: The first step to remove the catalytic converter from a 2AZ-FE emission control system requires engine under cover removal of the No. 1 component. You should begin by extracting the No. 1 exhaust manifold insulator. The procedure requires removal of the air fuel ratio sensor. First disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector then remove the front exhaust pipe assembly by taking out its 4 bolts together with 2 compression springs. Start by detaching the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly by uninstalling the bolt and nut for the manifold stay followed by the bolt and nut for the No. 2 manifold stay. The exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly requires removal by uninstalling all five nuts from its mounting position. Taking off the two separation bolts allows you to unmount both heat insulators from the exhaust manifold converter. After that, the No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator should be separated when all its two bolts are taken off.
