How to service the Air Bag Control Module on 2008 Scion tC?

Service of the Air Bag Control Module starts with disconnecting the negative battery cable for at least 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag activation. The service procedure must start with the removal of the shift lever knob sub-assembly before moving on to take out the front console upper panel assembly and the console upper rear panel sub-assembly and the rear console box assembly. Disconnection of Air Bag sensor connectors must be followed by removing the 3 bolts that secure the center Air Bag sensor assembly in place.
