  A: Before servicing the brake light switch for the hatchback customers need to disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal. First remove the instrument panel under cover sub-assembly LH before taking out the stop light switch through the process of disconnecting its connector then turning it counterclockwise. Apply the stop light switch to the adjuster so it only contacts the brake pedal without compression. Afterward tighten it one quarter revolution clockwise but maintain the turning torque below 1.5 N.m (15 kgf.cm, 13 in.lbf). The stop light switch clearance needs to measure from 0.5 to 2.6 mm (0.020 to 0.102 in.) and the stop light switch connector should be reconnected afterward. The instrument panel under cover sub-assembly LH needs to be reinstalled while connecting the cable to the negative battery terminal using 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) torque.
