2007 Toyota Tundra Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel injector on 2007 Toyota Tundra?
A: The first step for fuel injector maintenance requires battery terminal negativity disconnection with ignition switch OFF for minimum 90-second stand time before any connectors get removed. After disconnecting the 2 fuel pump ECU connectors you should reattach the negative battery terminal, start the engine then let the engine stop automatically before switching the ignition OFF. Next check for residual fuel pressure by unlocking the fuel tank cap after cranking the engine twice to make sure it does not start. Begin the procedure by removing the under cover from engine number one then drain the engine coolant followed by disassembly of the front wiper motor and link assembly along with the front cowl top outer panel subassembly, V-bank cover, cool air intake hose, air cleaner assembly with element, and intake air surge tank. Use a tool to remove the clamps securing the No. 1 and No. 2 fuel pipe sub-assemblies before extracting the fuel pipes until they clear the connectors yet stop dirt from accessing the interfacial area. Disconnect the six fuel injector connectors to remove the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly by extracting its six bolts with caution against injector drop. You need to remove the 6 fuel injectors which are situated on the fuel delivery pipe and also take away each injector's O-ring and vibration insulator. New insulators should be placed on injectors while light dodge oil or gasoline should be applied to new O-rings which should be installed onto the injectors before installing the fuel delivery pipe with injectors onto the intake manifold. Install the 6 bolts with light torque force to check the smooth injector rotation before tightening them to a 15 N.m torque standard and connecting the injector connectors. The installation of the No. 2 and No. 1 fuel pipe sub-assemblies should be done by making sure their connection is secure while hearing a "click" sound before reinstalling the clamps. The surge intake air tank needs installation along with the air cleaner assembly which holds the element and the cool air intake hose followed by the negative battery cable reconnection; initialization steps may be necessary based on system type. Check for fuel leaks using an intelligent tester or Techstream without engine start and inspect for coolant leakage. Afterward, add engine coolant to the system. To complete the procedure reinstall the V-bank cover and the front cowl top outer panel subassembly as well as the front wiper motor with its link assembly and the No. 1 engine under cover.
