2007 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do you service and repair the rear Suspension Strut Rod on 2007 Toyota Solara?
A: Service and repair operations on the rear strut rod require you to first take off the rear wheel. Disconnect the rear strut rod assembly by taking out the bolt then unwinding the parking brake cable followed by the loop of removing the bolt and nut from the front side of the strut rod while ensuring the nut maintains its position. Heat the bolt on the rear axle carrier and remove all parts consisting of the bolt and the nut and strut rod while maintaining control of the nut from rotation. Install the rear strut rod assembly while maintaining its temporary tightness through installation of its strut rod on the rear side with bolt together as the procedure requires a fixed nut before tightening the bolt. Drive the bolt inside the vehicle to achieve better installation. The front side of the strut rod should connect to bolt and nut with the nut secured and the bolt loosely tightened. The suspension needs stability by placing a wood block under the rear axle carrier then apply force to achieve alignment of the installed bolt from the suspension arm assembly No. 1 with the center of the rear axle hub. Both connections of the rear strut rod assembly need a final torque of 113 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.) while the installation of the parking brake cable requires a bolt tightened to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.). The last step involves reinstalling the rear wheel which needs tightening to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) after verifying proper rear wheel alignment.
