2006 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do you service and repair the rear Suspension Strut Rod on 2006 Toyota Solara?
A: The first step to work on rear strut rod repair begins with wheel removal from the rear position. To separate the rear strut rod assembly begin by removing the bolt that holds the parking brake cable and then remove the bolt combined with the nut to disconnect the strut rod from the front side while preventing the nut from rotating. Remove bolt and nut while also stopping strut rod from turning before extracting all components from the rear axle carrier. To install the rear strut rod assembly the technician should first bolt the strut rod onto the rear side using bolt and nut but should quicken the nut to stop it from rotating. Begin by sliding the bolt into the inner vehicle section before applying temporary installation and then connect the front strut rod to its bolt with nut keeping the nut fixed in its place. The suspension must be stabilized by using a wood block to raise the rear axle carrier which prevents damages so that you can apply load to the installed bolt of suspension arm assembly No.1 until it lies horizontally with the center of the rear axle hub. When installing the rear strut rod assembly bolts tighten them to 113 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.) for both connections together with the parking brake cable bolt tightened to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 ft. lbs.). The last step includes putting back the rear wheel followed by torquing it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) while performing a rear wheel alignment inspection.
