2005 Toyota Solara Suspension Strut Rod Parts Q&A
Q: How to replace the rear Suspension Strut Rod assembly on 2005 Toyota Solara?
A: The replacement of the rear strut rod assembly begins by removing the wheel on the rear. The first step detaches the strut rod assembly by taking out the bolt that separates the parking brake cable and then removing both the bolt and nut to disconnect the strut rod from the front side without allowing the nut to rotate. After removing the bolt you should take out the nut and strip rod from the axle carrier while maintaining control of the nut rotation. The rear strut rod assembly should be tightened temporarily by inserting the bolt from the inner side of the vehicle and securing the nut at the same time. Install the bolt and nut onto the front part of the strut rod although ensuring the nut becomes secure before completing the tightening process. The suspension needs stabilization through a wood block placed under the jack-up rear axle carrier along with sufficient force to keep the bolt on the installed suspension arm assembly No. 1 parallel to the rear axle hub center. The frontal and rear parts of the rear strut rod assembly must be bolted at 113 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.) before proceeding with installing the parking brake cable at 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.). The last procedure requires reinstalling the rear wheel at a torque of 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm/76ft. lbs.) while checking the rear wheel alignment.
