2004 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do you replace the Suspension Strut Rod Assy Rear on 2004 Toyota Solara?
A: The replacement of the Strut Rod Assy Rear becomes possible after wheel removal from the backend. Mobile the strut rod first requires removing the bolt and separating the parking brake cable after which another bolt and nut must be disassembled to disconnect the front strut rod while preventing the nut from rotating. Pull the bolt followed by the nut and strut rod from the rear axle carrier with special attention to avoid nut rotation. Install the strut rod on its rear end through the bolt and nut then set the nut and continue by fixing the front side bolt and nut while keeping the nut tight. Strap the rear axle carrier to a wood block for suspension stabilization to stop damage while correctly positioning the installed suspension bolt of assembly No. 1 at a 90-degree angle to the center of the rear axle hub. Follow the torque specifications of 113 Nm (1,150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.) to complete both bolt tappings before finishing with the front-side bolt to meet the identical torque standard. Use the provided bolt to install the parking brake cable before tightening it to 5.4 Nm which is equivalent to 55 kgf-cm or 48 inch lbs. In the last step install the rear wheel by torquing it to 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) then check the rear wheel alignment.
