- Q: How to service and repair the parking brake cable on 2007 Toyota Sienna?A: Begin the parking brake cable repair by removing the rear wheel then detach the rear brake drum sub-assembly and front as well as rear brake shoes for drum systems. Follow these steps to service the disc type system: first remove the caliper assembly, separate the disc before uninstalling the shoe assembly, adjusting screw set and shoe strut and finally remove the second shoe assembly. The procedure now involves detaching parking brake cable assembly No.3 from the backing plate using the 2 bolts then fully removing it after uninstalling the 3 bolts alongside the disconnecting the parking brake equalizer and removing the parking brake cable LH guide. Begin your installation by fitting the parking brake cable LH guide to parking brake cable assembly No.3 before connecting the guide to the parking brake cable equalizer with 3 bolts and the button combination while torquing Bolt (A) to 5.4 Nm and Bolt (B) to 8 Nm. Then attach parking brake cable assembly No.3 to the backing plate with two bolts while torquing them to 8 Nm. Use high-temperature grease for drum type systems while installing the rear brake shoe and front brake shoe followed by checking the rear drum brake installation and installing the rear brake drum sub-assembly during the adjustment of rear drum brake shoe clearance and parking brake pedal travel inspection steps. High-temperature grease application must be followed by the installation of parking brake shoe assembly LH No.2 together with the parking brake shoe adjusting screw set, the parking brake shoe strut LH, parking brake shoe assembly LH No.1 before checking the parking brake installation to adjust the clearance and connect the rear disc brake caliper assembly LH for final rear wheel installation with 103 Nm torque. Terminate the installation by setting the parking brake pedal travel and adjusting it to the correct position.
