2007 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the timing belt on 2007 Toyota Sequoia?
A: Service and repair of the timing belt starts with engine under cover No. 1 disconnection followed by engine coolant draining and removal of the radiator assembly and throttle body cover while taking out the intake air connector assembly and drive belt and fan and fluid coupling with the fan pulley. Use three bolt removal to disconnect the PS pump before suspending it safely. Service the timing belt by removing the drive belt idler pulley in addition to the RH No. 3 timing belt cover, LH No. 3 timing belt cover, No. 2 timing belt cover, A/C compressor, and fan bracket sequentially. Begin the procedure by inspecting timing belt installation marks while using Special Service Tool: 09213-70011 (90105-08076), 09330-00021 to loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt and ensure the No. 1 cylinder reaches TDC/compression position. The service technician should disconnect the timing belt from the camshaft timing pulleys using Special Service Tool: 09960-10010 (09962-01000, 09963-01000) while removing the camshaft timing pulleys along with the generator and drive belt tensioner and crankshaft pulley using Special Service Tool: 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021) and the No. 1 timing belt cover and timing belt guide and timing belt cover spacer. The timing belt requires new installation marks when you continue using it but the initial markers have disappeared. Pass the crankshaft timing pulley to Special Service Tool: 09223-46011 before installing it together with the No. 2 and No. 1 idler pulleys while applying adhesive to the pivot bolts. Begin installing the timing belt onto its place with the engine at room temperature after cleaning the pulleys until you find the installation mark of the belt matches the crankshaft timing pulley. Start by installing the timing belt cover spacer, timing belt guide, followed by the No. 1 timing belt cover before putting on the crankshaft pulley. The technician must add the drive belt tensioner followed by the generator before ensuring the crankshaft pulley maintains its correct position. Connect the timing belt to the both camshaft timing pulleys by following the instructions provided in Special Service Tool: 09960-10010 (09962-01000, 09963-01000). After installation of the timing belt tensioner the technician checks valve timing by rotating the crankshaft pulley two revolutions. Fasten the crankshaft pulley bolt using Special Service Tool: 09213-70011 (90119-08216), 09330-00021 before installing the fan bracket and A/C compressor along with the No. 2 timing belt cover and both RH and LH No. 3 timing belt covers while performing the wire connection steps. To complete the installation process you must place the drive belt and fluid coupling before adding the fan assembly along with its pulley and connecting the intake air connector and throttle body cover. That includes fitting the radiator assembly followed by engine coolant filling then starting the engine for leak checking before reinstalling engine under cover No. 1.
