2007 Toyota Sequoia Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the alternator on 2007 Toyota Sequoia?
A: The alternator maintenance process begins with separating engine under cover No.1 together with throttle body cover from the engine bay. The first step includes disconnecting both the negative battery cable and the intake air connector at the throttle body. To detach the belt drive users need to turn the belt tensioner counterclockwise which reduces tension for belt removal and should note the left-hand thread on the pulley bolt of the tensioner. The procedure begins by taking out the PS vane pump from the engine followed by disassembly of the generator. Start with detaching the generator connector then removing the terminal cap followed by disconnecting the generator wire before removing its bolt and two nuts securing the generator. The first step of installation requires installing the generator using its bolt and two nuts under torque settings of 39 N.m (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbf) for the bolt and 39 N.m (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbf) for the 10 mm nut and 15.5 N.m (158 kgf.cm, 11 ft.lbf) for the 8 mm nut. Tighten the generator connector and wire through the suitable nut to reach 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm or 87 in.lbf) before installing the terminal cap and the wire clamp to the generator cord clip. Mount the PS vane pump and drive belt by rotating the belt tensioner in a clockwise direction while paying attention to the left-hand threading of the pulley bolt. After connecting the intake air connector to the throttle body you should conduct an on-vehicle inspection followed by throttle body cover and engine under cover No.1 installation. You should initialize the system following negative cable reattachment to the terminal and battery terminal disconnect.
