2007 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the thermostat on 2007 Toyota Prius?
A: Starting the thermostat servicing process requires users first remove the radiator support opening cover then the engine under cover on each side from left to right. The first step of servicing the thermostat includes draining engine coolant followed by removing the water inlet by loosening its 2 nuts until the cylinder block separation. Afterward you should remove the thermostat together with its gasket. The installation requires placing a new gasket on the thermostat before placing it with the jiggle valve oriented upwards at 100 degrees either way according to the drawing. Employ the 2 nuts to secure the water inlet onto the cylinder block with a torque of 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 inch lbs.) but verify that the gasket does not become trapped between the mentioned parts. Engine under covers must be installed on both sides first followed by the radiator support opening cover while testing for leaks and adding engine coolant.
