How to replace the water pump assembly on 2007 Toyota Prius?

Start the water pump assembly (1NZ-FXE) replacement by eliminating first the radiator support opening cover then the engine under cover LH and the engine under cover RH. The first step includes draining coolant before extracting the fan and generator V belt followed by the removal of the water pump pulley through Special Service Tool: 09960-10010 (09962-01000, 09963-00600) while removing all 3 bolts. Start by removing the water pump assembly through the process of disconnecting the 3 bolts and 2 nuts. Secure the new gasket followed by assembling the water pump with 3 bolts and 2 nuts then torque them to 11 Nm (112 kgf-cm, 8.1 ft. lbs.). Use Special Service Tool: 09960-10010 (09962-01000, 09963-00600) to hold the water pump pulley which you have already installed with three bolts before torquing the bolts to 15 Nm (153 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). Next install the fan followed by the generator V belt and check both drive belt tension and deflection then add engine coolant before inspecting for any leakage. Reinstallation includes the engine under cover RH along with engine under cover LH together with the radiator support opening cover.
