2007 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Coolant Reservoir on 2007 Toyota Prius?
A: The coolant heat storage tank service requires checking of DTCs at all times and avoiding hot tank contact due to burn risks. The first step involves removing the rear No. 2 floor board together with the rear deck floor box and rear No. 3 floor board before disconnecting the battery negative terminal cable while waiting 90 seconds to stop Air Bag and seat belt pretensioners from activating. Start by taking out the radiator support opening cover together with engine under covers that include both left-hand and right-hand sides and front bumper cover and LH front fender liner which needs partial detachment. Drain the engine coolant while being cautious of the hot temperature within the heat storage tank through the drain cock plug release. The coolant heat storage tank assembly requires disconnecting 2 hoses along with water pump motor connections and temperature sensor connectors before removing the nut and 4 bolts while maintaining constant pressure on the tank to stop bracket bending. Install the coolant heat storage tank assembly by first inserting the 2 claws with stud bolt to vehicle-side positions followed by torquing 4 bolts to 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.) while pushing the bracket towards the vehicle front during tightening of bolts 1 and 2. Connect the water pump motor and temperature sensor connectors as well as the two hoses. The cable needs to be reconnected to the battery negative terminal followed by reinstalling the rear No. 3 floor board, rear deck floor box and rear No. 2 floor board. You should put on engine coolant while also testing for leaks before replacing the front fender liner LH and front bumper cover and engine under covers (RH and LH) and radiator support opening cover. At the last step of the procedure initialize the systems which need intervention when disconnecting the negative cable battery terminal.
