2008 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Coolant Reservoir assembly on 2008 Toyota Prius?
A: The first step to remove the coolant heat storage tank assembly starts with DTC checks at both procedure beginning and completion followed by a warning to stay away from touching hot tank surfaces. Remove the rear No. 2 floor board together with the rear deck floor box followed by the removal of the rear No. 3 floor board. The battery cable needs disconnection from its negative terminal followed by a 90-second wait to avoid Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. Begin by removing the radiator support opening cover, engine under cover LH, engine under cover RH, front bumper cover as well as partially taking off the front fender liner LH. The drain operation for engine coolant requires careful handling because the heat storage tank might still have hot liquid inside but you can finish it by unscrewing the drain cock plug. Complete the coolant heat storage tank removal process by detaching every connection on the two hoses and water pump motor and temperature sensor then taking out the nut and four bolts while securely holding the tank to stop bracket bending. First completely detach both the stud bolt and two claws which then allow removal of the coolant heat storage tank.
