2009 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the Coolant Reservoir assembly on 2009 Toyota Prius?
A: The procedure of removing the coolant heat storage tank assembly requires an initial and post-procedure DTC check to verify no errors are detected. Exercise caution with the tank because surface temperatures can increase from malfunctions so do not attempt to touch it to keep from getting burned. Workers should start by removing the rear No. 2 floor board alongside the rear deck floor box and the rear No. 3 floor board. Disconnect the battery negative terminal cable then let it rest for 90 seconds to stop Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. The upkeep begins with removal of the radiator support opening cover followed by the engine under cover LH and RH together with the front bumper cover while partially removing the front fender liner LH. Drain the engine coolant through the drain cock plug while being cautious due to the hot temperature of the coolant in the tank. The final step requires removal of the coolant heat storage tank assembly by disconnecting all 2 hoses and water pump motor connectors along with the temperature sensor connectors followed by unfastening the hardware consisting of the nut and 4 bolts while securely gripping the coolant heat storage tank to avoid bracket bending. Remove the coolant heat storage tank by first separating the stud bolt and 2 claws according to the provided illustration.
