2007 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install the Front Seat Belt Assembly on the RH side on 2007 Toyota Prius?
A: The procedure to detach the Front Seat Outer Belt Assembly from the RH side begins with disconnecting the negative battery cable terminal for at least 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation. The procedure begins with scuff plates from both front and rear doors along with front and rear door opening trim Weather Strips and then proceeds with the front seat outer belt assembly RH by taking out its anchor cover followed by the floor anchor bolt and shoulder anchor before disconnecting the pretensioner connector and removing the two bolts and outer belt. The front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly must be installed first with its bolt fastened at 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) torque value. To install the front seat outer belt assembly RH you should attach it to the center pillar using two bolts which must be torqued to 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf) for the upper bolt and 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) for the lower bolt. Next, secure the pretensioner connector before installing the outer belt on the shoulder anchor side with a bolt torqued to 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf). Install the shoulder anchor cover before attaching a 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) torque bolt to the floor anchor side belt. Then put on center pillar garnish and lower garnish RH. After fastening the floor anchor to the floor panel with a 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) bolt users can reattach the front and rear door scuff plates along with the front and rear door opening trim Weather Strips. To check if the ELR locks properly pull the belt out quickly; if locking fails to activate per specifications replace the outer belt assembly. The cable reinstallation into the negative terminal must be followed by system initialization since specific systems need this initialization after cable disconnection and reconnection.
