2007 Toyota Matrix Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the throttle body on 2007 Toyota Matrix?
A: The first step in servicing and repairing throttle body operation requires removing the engine coolant then disconnecting the battery negative terminal. Service the throttle body by first removing cylinder head cover No. 2 through the removal of its two nuts and two clips. The next step requires disconnecting the mass air flow meter connector [A] followed by the VSV connector [B] the 2 wire harness clamps [C] while eliminating fuel vapor feed hoses No. 1 [D] and No. 3 [E] from the VSV and the ventilation hose No. 1 from the cylinder head cover. You should first loosen the hose clamp bolt on Air Cleaner Hose No. 1 before separating the Air Cleaner Cap along with its attached hose. The throttle body assembly removal process requires disconnecting the throttle control motor connector followed by removing the water by-pass hose [B] and water by-pass hose No. 2 [C] from the throttle body assembly before removing the adjacent 2 bolts and 2 nuts to detach the throttle body unit. Finally, remove the gasket from the intake manifold. Installation requires users to apply a new gasket to the intake manifold before installing the throttle body with both bolts and nuts while torquing them to 9.0 N.m (90 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf). Next, connect water by-pass hoses No. 2 [C] and [D] to the throttle body followed by the throttle control motor connector. The procedure involves installing the air cleaner cap by securing the air cleaner hose with a tightened clamp bolt before connecting the air cleaner hose while torquing it to 2.0 N.m (20 kgf.cm, 18 in.lbf). Attach ventilation hose No. 1 to the cylinder head cover followed by installing VSV fuel vapor feeds hoses No. 3 [D] and No. 1 [E] and applying the 2 wire harness clamps [F] and connecting VSV [G] and mass air flow meter [H] to their respective outlets. The repair concludes with installing cylinder head cover No. 2 and its accompanying 2 nuts and 2 clips along with torquing to 7.0 N.m (71 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf).
