2007 Toyota Matrix Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the fuel injector on 2007 Toyota Matrix?
A: The first step to service a fuel injector includes pressure discharge of the fuel system and negative terminal battery removal. The service of the fuel injector requires removing the No. 2 cylinder head cover after unbolting the 2 clips and 2 nuts. The ventilation hose needs disconnection from the cylinder head cover. The procedure to disassemble a fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly starts by removing the 4 fuel injector connectors (A) then removing 3 wire harness clamps from clamp brackets (B) as well as taking off fuel pipe clamp No. 1 (C). To disconnect the fuel tube (D) push back the retaining part of the connector until it pulls out at point (E) and make sure no debris enters the connector opening. You must first unbolt the 3 components and draw the fuel delivery pipe combined with its fuel injectors (F) from the cylinder head. Proceed with caution to avoid dropping the pieces before extracting the 2 delivery pipe spacers (G) and 4 insulators (H). You need to extract the four fuel injectors from their position inside the fuel delivery pipe. A gentle application of gasoline or spindle oil should be used when preparing new O-rings for both the fuel injectors and the fuel delivery pipe O-ring joints. The installation procedure begins by placing new and unbroken O-rings on each fuel injector base before installing them onto the delivery pipe. Each injector should rotate without hindrance during this process. Place and tighten 4 new insulators in the cylinder head section (A) and install the 2 delivery pipe No. 1 spacers (B) in their proper direction. Attach the 4 fuel injectors to the fuel delivery pipe then secure the 3 bolts (C) without dropping the injectors. Before securing the 3 fuel delivery pipe bolts (D) check their smooth rotation. Then apply the correct torque settings which are Bolt A 19 N.m (194 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) and Bolt B 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf). Install the fuel tube (F) by applying pressure to its connectors until they properly click in place while checking for damaging scratches or extraneous items at the beginning. Fasten the valve cover first by installing the fuel pipe clamp (G), the three wire harness clamps (H) and connecting the four fuel injector connectors (I). Reinstall the ventilation hose on the cylinder head cover while making sure to position its clamp in the proper direction. Reconnect the negative terminal with 5.4 N.m torque then perform a fuel leak examination before installing the No. 2 cylinder head cover using the 2 nuts and 2 clips and applying 7.0 N.m of torque (70 kgf.cm, 62 in.lbf).
