Fuel Injector used in Toyota Matrix cars is the device guided by the Electronic Control Module that sprays fuel directly into the engine cylinders replacing the Carburetor. This system helps in providing the proper air-fuel mixture that is required for the load on the engine at that time and therefore increasing the engine's power and efficiency. Some of the consequences of the malfunction of the injectors include poor idle as well as reduced power, the damaging of the catalytic converters and oxygen sensors. These problems must be avoided at all costs and this is why faulty fuel injectors need prompt replacement. The Fuel Injector system is a critical component that determines the health of the vehicle's Matrix and performance.

Toyota Matrix Fuel Injector Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to install the fuel injector assembly on Toyota Matrix?
    A:
A light amount of fuel injector oil requires application to new O-rings before placing them onto each fuel injector. After applying gasoline or spindle oil to the portions of the fuel delivery pipe touching fuel injector O-rings you must repeat this application before mounting the fuel injectors to their position on the pipe. Make sure to check that the O-ring stays unbent throughout the installation. Test the fuel injector for easy rotation because any difficulty indicates you need to change the O-ring. The fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly installation requires new insulators in 4 cylinder head locations and 2 delivery pipe No. 1 spacers to be fitted onto the cylinder head, maintaining their proper installation direction. Attach the 4 fuel injectors to the fuel delivery pipe before fixing the 3 bolts while minimizing fuel injector drops. Check that fuel injectors rotate smoothly before tightening the 3 bolts to their specified torques of Bolt A at 194 kgf-cm (19 Nm) or 14 ft-lbf and Bolt B at 92 kgf-cm (9.0 Nm) or 80 in-lbf. To connect the fuel tube insert the fuel tube connector into its proper place on the pipe until the retaining clip activates and inspect the connection to ensure nothing exists near the union besides the connector. Examine the fuel tube connection security by pulling on the fuel tube connector after it is installed. Secure in place the fuel pipe clamp No. 1 and the assembly of three wire harness clamps, then link up the four fuel injector connectors. Secure the ventilation hose onto the cylinder head cover following the necessary hose clamp alignment. Position the cable on the negative battery terminal with 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf) and verify for any fuel leakage from the installation. Fasten the No. 2 cylinder head cover and tighten both nuts and clips to 7.0 Nm (70 kgf-cm, 62 in-lbf).
  • Q: How to remove the fuel injector on Toyota Matrix?
    A:
The first step to remove the 2AZ-FE engine fuel injector is to drain the system fuel pressure. The next step requires disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Start the removal procedure by first eliminating the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly together with the air cleaner cap sub-assembly and its connected hose. Dispose of the fuel main tube properly by extracting it from the fuel hose clamp and fuel pipe clamp without deforming the tube. Following fuel tube connector cleaning install tool: 09268-21010 by fitting the retainer into the connector while using the tool's chamfered part. To disconnect the fuel tube use both hands to push its connector toward the tool until a "click" sound appears while mounting the retainer onto its chamfered part. The remaining fuel needs drainage from the tube followed by plastic bag coverage for protection. Use the tool 09268-21010 to disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose from its position on the ventilation valve. Detach the sub-assembly of the fuel delivery pipe by unclamping the 2 wire harnesses and disconnecting the 4 fuel injector connectors while unfastening the 2 bolts to remove both fuel delivery pipe and 4 fuel injectors with caution against accidental drops. To complete the procedure remove first the 2 delivery pipe spacers and then the 4 insulators from the cylinder head before extracting the 4 fuel injectors from the fuel delivery pipe.
