2007 Toyota Highlander Seat Belt Parts Q&A
Q: How should the front Seat Belt assembly be disposed of when installed on 2007 Toyota Highlander?
A: The disposal of front seat outer belt assemblies in vehicles demands the exclusion of undeployed pretensioners and deployment must take place in an outdoor area to prevent resident disruption. The deployment of front seat outer belts requires at least a 10 m (33 ft) distance to the front seat and protective gloves and safety glasses for pretensioner handling. Wash your hands with water afterward and do not wet the pretensioner after deployment occurs. The deployment operation requires the use of Special Service Tools 09082-00700 and 09082-00770 which need to be free from any electrical signal interference. Start by checking the tool's functionality through connection of the red clip to the battery positive (+) terminal and the black clip to the battery negative (-) terminal and pressing the deployment switch to verify the LED lights up. The tool cannot be utilized if the LED indicator activates on its own without pressing the switch. Secure two Special Service Tools to the front seat outer belt pretensioner while keeping away from the connector and wire harness by not using the secondary lock. The tool needs to stand at least 10 meters (33 feet) from the vehicle while all doors remain closed and windows shut between checking for occupants and the deployment switch pressure to trigger the pretensioner. After tool deployment users must remove it while placing the outer belt in a plastic bag before tightly tying the container and disposing of it as other general parts need at least 30 minutes to cool down. Dispose of the front seat outer belt assembly outside the vehicle by using the same procedures but never activate the pretensioner in the customer vehicle. Use the tire and wheel assembly to cover the outer belt before deployment at a proper distance. Then dispose of it following the same disposal method while applying safety measures during the entire operation.
