2007 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and replace the Rack And Pinion on 2007 Toyota Highlander?
A: Inspection of the center front wheel should begin the process before removing and replacing the power rack and pinion link. Use Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 to disconnect the tie rod assembly LH before detaching the RH assembly through similar steps. The next step requires attaching the steering wheel to the seat belt so it cannot rotate since this technique protects the spiral cable from damage. The technician needs to loosen bolt A before removing the clamp from steering column hole cover No. 1 then pulling steering column hole cover No. 2 apart from No. 1. The technician should tighten bolt B and apply matchmarks to both the steering intermediate shaft sub-assembly and rack and pinion link assembly before removing the bolt to disconnect the steering intermediate shaft sub-assembly. Use the same method to separate the front stabilizer link assembly first on the left-hand side and then on the right-hand side. To detach the front stabilizer bracket No. 1 LH the technician must extract the two bolts before removing the stabilizer bracket No. 2 along with the stabilizer bar bush No. 1 from the bar. Continue the same procedure for front stabilizer bracket No. 1 RH. To disconnect the return tube assembly first detach the tube clamp from the pressure feed tube assembly while using Special Service Tool: 09023-12701 to detach the return tube assembly from the rack and pinion link assembly followed by the nut and return tube clamp removal. Remove the power rack and pinion link assembly with Special Service Tool: 09023-12701 by dismissing bolt security followed by pressure feed tube clamp detachment then eliminating power rack and pinion link assembly through bolt and nut removed procedures.
