2007 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Control Arm in Rear Suspension No. 1 on 2007 Toyota Highlander?
A: The first step for Rear Suspension No. 1 Arm servicing includes removing both rear wheels and the stabilizer bar rear unit. The rear suspension arm assembly No. 1 (inner side) disconnects with its bolt first before removing the bolt, nut and assembly No. 1 (outer side) from the rear axle carrier while watching for the nut to prevent rotational movement during bolt removal. When installing the rear suspension arm assembly No. 1 (inner side) keep the bolt loosely fastened to maintain the paint mark at the rear side of the vehicle. The installation of the rear suspension arm assembly No. 1 (outer side) to the rear axle carrier requires a bolt and nut which should be initially tightened but the nut needs to be fixed while this procedure is occurring. Unstable conditions require wrench use for bolting until torque reaches 120 Nm (1,220 kgf-cm, 89 ft. lbs.) and 112 Nm (1,140 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.). To finish the installation process first replace the stabilizer bar rear followed by the rear wheel where you must achieve a torque of 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.). Last step is to verify the rear wheel alignment.
