Service of the camshaft begins with unbolting the front wheel RH and front fender splash shield front RH and front fender apron seal RH and engine cover sub-assembly No.1 and ignition coil assembly and spark plug and ventilation hoses No.1 and No.2 and engine wire and then proceeding to remove the cylinder head cover sub-assembly. Commence by setting cylinder No. 1 to TDC/Compression then unfasten the sprocket bolt on chain tensioner No.1 and No.2 camshaft assembly and fix the camshaft with a wrench before removing the bearing cap bolts in their specified sequence until all 5 bearing caps are extracted and the No. 2 camshaft can be raised along with its sprocket bolt and camshaft timing sprocket. The procedure for camshaft removal includes first loosening bearing cap bolts according to sequence and then removing the camshaft and tying the timing chain with string to prevent any items from entering the timing chain cover. The camshaft (intake) needs to be positioned in a vise when removing the camshaft timing gear assembly. The assembly requires vinyl tape coverage of all paths except the advanced side path and 150 kPa (1.5 kgf/cm2, 21 psi) of air pressure applied to the advanced angle side port which enables hand turning motion of the camshaft timing gear to the advanced angle position. Before mounting a reused timing gear assembly it is imperative to remove its straight pin lock and prevent the loss of all fringe bolts which stay on the camshaft timing gear. Perform the installation by correctly positioning the camshaft timing gear and camshaft (intake) with the straight pin inside the key groove. Then rotate the camshaft timing gear while applying pressure against the camshaft (intake) until no gaps exist between the fringe and the camshaft (intake). Finally tighten the fringe bolt to 54 Nm (551 kgf-cm, 40 ft. lbs.) with engine oil on threads and bolt head. Position the timing chain on the camshaft timing gear by orienting the painted link mark at the camshaft timing sprocket marks before fastening both bearing caps and bolts according to their specified torque. Install the bearing caps along with their bolts then tighten them according to the given torque specifications after temporarily securing the sprocket bolt through its alignment to the camshaft timing sprocket timing mark followed by the painted link mark. Secure the camshaft with a wrench while torquing the sprocket bolt to 54 Nm (551 kgf-cm, 40 ft. lbs.) and verify that the valve lifter remains undamaged before inspecting the paint marks on the timing chain alongside the camshaft timing gear and camshaft timing sprocket. Completing the operation starts with Chain Tensioner Assembly No.1 and continuing with Cylinder Head Cover Sub-Assembly followed by Engine Wire Connection and finally Ignition Coil Assembly needs tightening to 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 inch lbs.) before Spark Plug installation to 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.) and final wheelchair LM reinstallation and engine oil leak inspection.
