Service of the camshaft begins with removing the front wheel RH, front fender splash shield front RH, front fender apron seal RH, engine cover sub-assembly No. 1, ignition coil assembly, spark plug, ventilation hoses No. 1 and No. 2, and engine wire from the vehicle. This needs to be followed by removing the cylinder head cover sub-assembly. Proceed by positioning No. 1 cylinder at TDC/Compression to remove chain tensioner assembly No. 1 and No. 2 camshaft by rotating the sprocket bolt without damaging the valve lifter until all bearing cap bolts can be removed in sequence to extract the five bearing caps that allow the No. 2 camshaft (exhaust) and sprocket bolt and camshaft timing sprocket to be lifted out. Start by applying a string to secure the timing chain before removing the camshaft while observing that no parts fall inside the timing chain cover. Fix the intake camshaft in a vise while taping every path with vinyl except the advanced position then connect air pressure of 150 kPa to the advanced port to ensure hand-turnability of the camshaft timing gear. Fasten the fringe bolt only to the camshaft timing gear while maintaining the other four bolts in place before unlocking the straight pin for reuse of the camshaft timing gear assembly. The installation process begins by positioning the camshaft timing gear and intake camshaft with the straight pin and key groove. Then turn the camshaft timing gear as you press it against the intake camshaft. Verify that the gear fringe has no loose space with the camshaft intake. Finally tighten the fringe bolt to 54 Nm (551 kgf-cm, 40 ft. lbs.) by applying engine oil on the threads and head of the bolt. Confirm the free movement and retention at the extreme retarded angle position of the camshaft timing gear. Screw in the timing chain onto the camshaft timing gear until the marked link point matches the camshaft timing sprocket mark before adding the bearing caps and bolts which must be tightened based on the defined sequence and torque values. First temporarily secure the sprocket bolt while installing the bearing caps and bolts periodically according to the specified sequence for the No. 2 camshaft. Use a wrench to secure the camshaft properly while tightening the sprocket bolt to 54 Nm (551 kgf-cm, 40 ft. lbs.) under the condition that the valve lifter remains undamaged. Verify the paint marks alignment between the timing chain and the camshaft timing gear and the camshaft timing sprocket. The last steps involve the installation of chain tensioner assembly No. 1 before putting on the cylinder head cover sub-assembly followed by connecting engine wire and installing ignition coil assembly set to 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 inch lbs.) torque then placing spark plug with 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.) torque followed by reinstallation of the front wheel RH and leak inspection.
