2007 Toyota Highlander Air Bag Sensor Parts Q&A
Q: How to service the Center Air Bag Sensor Assembly on 2007 Toyota Highlander?
A: All services involving the Center Air Bag Sensor Assembly should start with following the Restraint Systems Service Precautions. The post-doctoral research service requires the removal of the negative cable battery connection for 90 seconds to stop Air Bag deployment. Proceed by eliminating floor carpet covers from both left and right center panels together with instrument cluster finish panel assembly center, the rear console box lower component, the box bottom mat, and the console box assembly. First disconnect the three connectors from the center Air Bag sensor assembly before removing its three bolts and lastly detach air ducts Number 1 and Number 2 rear. Start the installation only after disconnecting the battery negative terminal and turning off the ignition switch for 90 seconds. Install the center Air Bag sensor assembly but only temporarily with its 3 bolts but replace it before returning it to service if it has been involved in any drops or displays any defects. Fasten the bolts according to a torque setting of 17.5 N.m (179 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) then perform a loose bolt check. Rejoin the three connectors while checking that the waterproof sheet is correctly installed. The repair sequence for this step includes setting back the air ducts No. 1 and No. 2 rear while reinstalling the console box assembly and box bottom mat and the rear console box lower and instrument cluster finish panel assembly center as well as the floor carpet covers for both sides of the center. To finish integrate the cable at the negative battery terminal then execute system initialization if necessary before checking the SRS warning light.
