2007 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Vapor Canister on 2007 Toyota Avalon?
A: One must start this procedure with gas spill protection followed by battery cable removal prior to Evaporative Emission Control Canister servicing or repairs. The first step involves cleaning the fuel system by removing the rear seat cushion assembly together with the rear floor service hole cover followed by separating the fuel pump tube sub-assembly to drain the fuel from the system. The service and replacement of the Evaporative Emission Control Canister starts with removal of the exhaust pipe assembly center and subsequent removal of parking brake cable assembly No.2 and No.3. Use the tips to detach the fuel tank vent hose from the charcoal canister by insertion of the connector followed by pinching portion A to extract the connector. The process begins with disconnecting the charcoal canister filter sub-assembly from the charcoal canister with the same method while also detaching the vapor pressure sensor connector the wire harness clamp and the purge line hose from the charcoal canister then removing the two bolts and clip and charcoal canister. When installing the charcoal canister assembly with its components use two bolts and clip while applying 36 N.m (367 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) torque to secure proper installation. The charcoal canister requires installation of both purge line hose and wire harness clamp together with vapor pressure sensor connector and charcoal canister filter sub-assembly and fuel tank vent hose. Afterward install the fuel tank assembly together with the parking brake cable assembly No.3 and No.2 and the exhaust pipe assembly center. Reattach the negative battery terminal before adding fuel and checking exhaust gas leak and fuel leak sources on the sub-assembly tubes. To finish up the installation you must add the rear floor service hole cover and rear seat cushion assembly before performing system initialization when disconnecting the battery terminal requires it.
