2007 Toyota 4Runner Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the alternator on 2007 Toyota 4Runner?
A: The alternator maintenance starts with removing the V-bank cover followed by removing the engine No.1 under cover sub-assembly by unfastening all 4 bolts. Begin by removing the fan together with the generator V belt before taking out the battery. Start by disconnecting the wire harness through bolt removal and wire harness stay depletion followed by disconnecting the generator assembly connector as well as removing its terminal cap and nut before separate wire harness from terminal B. Continue by removing first the generator assembly bolts and subsequently its wire harness clamp bracket before securing the generator assembly. Install the generator assembly by securing it with the two bolts at 43 N.m (438 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf). The 2 bolts should be tightened on the wire harness clamp bracket until it reaches 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf). After fitting terminal B of the wire harness you must install and tighten the nut to 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf) and connect the connector at the generator assembly before fixing the wire harness stay with its bolt torqued to 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf). After installing the battery you must add the V-belt between the fan and the generator before installing the engine No.1 under cover sub-assembly No.1 with 4 bolts torqued to 29 N.m (296 kgf.cm, 21 ft.lbf). Then put back the V-bank cover.
