• Q: How to remove and install windshield glass on 2007 Scion tC?

  A: Before handling the windshield glass disconnect the battery cable and leave it off for at least 90 seconds to deactivate the Air Bags and seat belts. Start by taking off the inner rear view mirror assembly then move on to get the front door scuff plates (LH and RH) and cowl side trim sub-assemblies (LH and RH). Next remove the front door opening trim Weather Strips (LH and RH), front pillar garnishes (LH and RH), assist grip cover and sub-assembly, both visor assemblies and holders with the map light assembly. Lastly lower part of the front roof headlining for access. Start by taking off the components including front wiper arm head cap, both wiper arms, hood to cowl top seal, and ventilator louvers from both sides. Pull the windshield moulding through the outer edges with caution to protect the vehicle's structure. Afterward install protective tape to the glass surface followed by conducing the piano wire between the body and glass. Hook wire handles at both ends and mark reference points during reuse if required. Slice through the adhesive connection then detach stoppers and use suction cups to pull the glass off. Scrape away destroyed stoppers and adhesive damage from windshield glass and wipe the edges with white gasoline. Remove unnecessary glue pieces from the vehicle exterior before applying cleaning solution to the contact zone. Place No. 2 windshield glass stoppers on the glass and coat their installation areas with Primer G before connecting two new stoppers. Position the windshield glass on the vehicle body with suction cups and attach No. 1 stoppers before putting adhesive dams on the glass but excluding spacer area A. Snip exposed body areas then body contact areas with Primer G. Also put adhesive (part no. 08850-00801 or matching) onto the windshield glass before running out the allotted time window. Hold the glass against the vehicle frame at its matchmarks then press it lightly while sticking protective tape to protect the bonding surface as the glue sets. Finally, install the windshield moulding outside, cowl top ventilator louvers (LH and RH), hood to cowl top seal, both front wiper arms, front wiper arm head cap, roof headlining assembly, map light assembly, visor holders (LH and RH), both visor assemblies, assist grip sub-assembly and cover, front pillar garnishes (LH and RH), front door opening trim Weather Strips (LH and RH), cowl side trim sub-assemblies (LH and RH), front door scuff plates (LH and RH), and the inner rear view mirror assembly. Perform a leak test once the adhesive is hardened then fix any leaks with auto glass sealer and activate system operations.
