2006 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install windshield glass on 2006 Toyota Solara?
A: The windshield glass removal process starts by taking off the inner rear view mirror assembly and the roof headlining assembly followed by removing the front door scuff plates LH and RH, cowl side trim LH and RH, roof side rail Weather Strip LH and RH, front door opening trim Weather Strip LH and RH, front pillar garnish LH and RH, visors LH and RH, visor holders, assist grip, and roof console box. After that, partially lower the roof headlining. You need to cut the outer upper windshield moulding and the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly while using a knife to preserve the vehicle body. The technician should tape the vehicle's body while installing piano wires between glass and body for handle string attachments and marking body and glass points. Cut the adhesive with tears made by piano wires to disengage the stoppers before pulling off the windshield glass with a suction cup. Keep as much adhesive on the vehicle body surface during this operation. Invite white gasoline to clean the windshield glass while you remove all damaged stoppers retainers as well as adhesive before finishing with the gasoline. Start cleaning the surface which will touch the vehicle by removing extra adhesive followed by application of cleaning solution. Install two new stoppers to the windshield glass after applying Primer G to their installation locations then allowing it to dry. First install two new stoppers on the vehicle body and afterwards position the new retainers on the windshield glass. The application of Primer G on windshield adhesive dams must be followed by drying time before installing double-sided tape along area D and E on the windshiled glass edge. Use a suction cup to position the windshield glass onto the contact surface while maintaining evenness before positioning matchmarks if the glass is new. Place Primer M on the visible parking slot of the body and Primer G on the windshield glass contact area before the materials reach full dryness. The windshield glass requires adhesive (Part No. 08850-00801 or equivalent) application after nozzle cartridge cutting with a limited time usage criterion. Follow the matchmarks when placing the glass windshield before gently pressing the rim until a narrow gap is formed between the glass and body. Protection tape should be used on the glass until the adhesive becomes firm while the operator should apply Primer G to the contact surface of the windshield and put on the new outer upper molding before the adhesive sets. Carry out a leak test when the adhesive completely dries before using auto glass sealer to fix noticed leaks.
