How to service the rear Air Bag sensor on 2006 Toyota Sienna?

A service procedure to deal with the rear Air Bag sensor begins with carefully reading all relevant Air Bag system service warnings. Disconnected cable from the negative terminal of the battery should wait for 90 seconds as an Air Bag deployment prevention measure. First remove the rear door scuff plate on the right hand side, rear door Weather Strip on the right hand side, back door Weather Strip, back door scuff plate, lap belt outer anchor cover and front quarter trim panel assembly on the right hand side. Start by taking out the air duct assembly through unscrewing then remove the rear Air Bag sensor LH by disconnecting its connector while removing the 2 bolts. Installation must begin only after disconnecting the negative terminal and waiting for a minimum of 90 seconds while the ignition switch remains off. Connect the rear Air Bag sensor LH using 2 bolts while torquing them to 17.5 N.m (179 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf). Replacement of the sensor becomes necessary if it gets damaged during a drop or shows indications of damage. The SRS wiring needs to be free of bends and interfering with any parts along with checking the installation for looseness before reconnecting the sensor's connector. Place back the front air duct, front quarter trim panel assembly and lap belt outer anchor cover before reinstalling the back door Weather Strip, check plate, and Weather Strip for the right-hand door. After reconnecting the cable to the negative terminal you must initiate the system setup process which certain systems demand before checking the SRS warning indicator.
