2006 Toyota RAV4 Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel injector on 2006 Toyota RAV4?
A: A proper fuel injector servicing process requires users to discharge fuel system pressure starting with console box removal and connector detachment followed by engine starting until stoppage and ignition switch-off followed by fuel tank cap removal to bleed air and reconnecting the connector before returning the console box to its original position. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal while keeping patience for at least 90 seconds to avoid activating Air Bags. The first step includes removing the No. 1 engine cover with the air cleaner cap sub-assembly before disconnecting the fuel main tube without distorting it. The initial step requires you to disassemble the fuel hose clamp which holds the fuel tube before cleaning the tube connector and using Special Service Tool: 09268-21010 to disconnect the tube. All disassembled sections need coverage while fuel drainage is completed. Detach the No. 2 ventilation hose from its ventilation valve and then remove the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly after unharnessing the wire clamps, discharging fuel injector connectors, and carefully removing the bolts to keep the injectors safe. After removing delivery pipe spacers and insulators from the cylinder head space you should pull out the fuel injectors from the delivery tube. New O-rings need a thin coating of spindle oil or gasoline before installation onto each injector following a check for cracked or jammed rings. Place the insulators along with delivery pipe back onto the cylinder head, fasten the bolts loosely before checking the injector rotation pattern and tightening the bolts at 20 N.m (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf). Expand the No. 2 ventilation hose but ensure the hose clamp paint mark meets the proper alignment before attachment. Connect the fuel main tube until you hear a clicking sound and then attach the fuel pipe clamp to the hose clamp. The technician should switch ON the ignition without starting the engine followed by connecting the intelligent tester to the DLC3. The Active Test mode must be selected and inspection for fuel leakage should be confirmed before switching OFF the ignition and disconnecting the tester. Next, reconnect the battery negative terminal and reinstall both the air cleaner cap sub-assembly and No. 1 engine cover.
