2006 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the Canister Purge Valve on 2006 Toyota Prius?
A: The service and repair of the Canister Purge Valve starts with uninstalling the rear No. 2 floor board, rear deck floor box and rear No. 3 floor board. Disconnecting the negative battery cable requires at least 90 seconds of waiting time before reconnecting it to avoid triggering the Air Bags and pretensioning of seat belts. Start removal of the purge VSV by disconnecting its connector and removing both the purge line hoses and finally unthreading the bolt which secures the valve. The installation of the purge VSV requires the VSV mounting bolt torqued to 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf) then reapplication of the two purge line hoses and attachment of the purge VSV connector. Return the negative battery terminal cable before installing the rear No. 3 floor board, rear deck floor box and rear No. 2 floor board. Operations need to run initialization at the end since similar procedures need this step during negative battery cable removal and reinstallation.
