2006 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Vapor Pressure Sensor on 2006 Toyota Prius?
A: Service of the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor begins with removing the rear No. 2 floor board, rear deck floor box, rear No. 3 floor board, waiting 90 seconds to disconnect the negative battery cable before proceeding. The functionality of the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor requires removal of the lower center instrument panel finish panel, rear seat cushion assembly, rear floor service hole cover, front floor panel brace, front exhaust pipe and fuel tank sub-assembly. The procedure for removing the fuel tank pressure sensor begins by disconnecting its connector followed by tube joint clip removal and sensor extraction from the fuel tank retainer. Proper sensor and O-ring protection against dirt and scratches should be maintained throughout this step. To put in the fuel tank pressure sensor feed it into the fuel tank retainer and attach the tube joint clip before safely reconnecting the sensor connector. The process requires installation of the fuel tank sub-assembly followed by front exhaust pipe and the negative battery cable reconnection. Reinstall these components starting from the front floor panel brace and continuing through the rear floor service hole cover and the rest of the listed elements. The negative battery terminal needs re-establishment before system initialization takes place when required.
