2006 Toyota Prius Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install an A/C Compressor on 2006 Toyota Prius?
A: The removal process of an electric inverter compressor starts by taking out the rear No. 2 floor board followed by the deck floor box rear then finally the rear No. 3. Begin by disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable then unfasten the service plug grip before discharging all refrigerant material from the refrigeration system. Completely disconnect the discharge hose sub-assembly through bolt removal and O-ring extraction while closing both outlets with vinyl tape to impede water and foreign substances. The process to disconnect suction hose sub-assembly demands the same method as previously described while adequately sealing the hose openings. The procedure for removing the electric inverter compressor assembly involves unfastening the green lock while removing the connector and three clamps and three bolts. The service valve must be used for helium inert gas discharge during electric inverter compressor replacement along with draining a specific oil amount computed through the following formula: New electric inverter compressor oil capacity of 100 + 15 cc subtracted from removed compressor assembly oil quantity. Crank down the compressor using two bolts firstly before applying 25 N.m torque to the two screws and finishing with the rest of the bolt at 25 N.m. The wire harness connection process requires the attachment of three clamps before securing the green lock. Before reducing the battery cable, use a new O-ring and electric inverter compressor fitting surface with ND-OIL 11 or equivalent compressor oil. The suction hose sub-assembly and discharge hose sub-assembly require 9.8 N.m torques for their bolts to secure correctly. After battery rejection, perform specific system initialization if necessary. The repair sequence ends with installing rear No. 3 floor board and the deck floor box rear and rear No. 2 floor board. Next follow refrigerator charging and compressor warming and a leak detection test.
