2006 Toyota Land Cruiser Coil Springs Parts Q&A
Q: How to service the rear coil springs on 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: The first step for servicing the rear coil spring requires draining active height control suspension fluid followed by removing the rear wheel using a torque of 131 Nm (1,340 kgf-cm, 97 ft. lbs.). The service begins by supporting the rear axle housing with a jack before removing the rear shock absorber assembly and disconnecting the rear stabilizer bracket through removal of 4 bolts and separation of the 2 stabilizer bar brackets at 18 Nm (185 kgf-cm, 13 ft. lbs.). To disconnect the rear lateral control rod assembly you must remove its nut and washer and bolt while tightening it to 150 Nm (1,530 kgf-cm, 111 ft. lbs.). After the suspension stabilizes you must replace the old nut with a new one before applying proper torque to the nut. Separate the rear axle breather hose sub-assembly before taking out the rear coil spring by easing the axle housing down while preventing damage to the brake line and parking brake cable. Then remove the coil spring and insulator. Reposition the coil spring end correctly before reinstalling it and removing the bolt and follow spring from the frame while using a torque of 28 Nm (290 kgf-cm, 21 ft. lbs.). The procedure for installation follows the opposite sequence of disassembly while post-installation requires suspension fluid AHC in the AHC pump & motor reservoir and AHC system bleeding with leak verification.
