2006 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the heater core on 2006 Toyota Highlander?
A: Start repair and servicing of the heater core through water pipe removal by carefully removing the two clips' claws with pliers while releasing the heater water hose from its sources. The task begins by removing the rear heater blower resistor through disconnecting the two clamps and connector after which two screws securing it can be removed. Because of the 9 screws and clamp you must take out the rear heater unit sub-assembly before detaching it from the heater case. Next remove the rear heater blower fan sub-assembly by unfastening its retaining nut as well as washer. The rear heater blower motor sub-assembly can be extracted once the connector clamp disconnectes and the 3 screws are taken out. When reinstalling start with the rear heater blower motor sub-assembly then proceed with the rear heater blower fan sub-assembly making sure to keep the washer in place and fastening it with the torqued at 4.0 N.m (42 kgf.cm, 36 in.lbf) nut. Start by fitting the rear heater unit sub-assembly followed by the rear heater blower resistor and ending with the water pipe and hose sub-assembly installation.
