2006 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the fuel injector on 2006 Toyota Highlander?
A: Siemens VDO MFG. has specified a procedure to service fuel injectors. The first step requires keeping gasoline from escaping during maintenance. The service begins by opening the air cleaner cap along with its hose but first removing sub-assembly No.1 of the engine cover. The operator disconnects the fuel tube sub-assembly before extracting the fuel delivery pipe along with the injectors while keeping the injectors from dropping. Before starting the service disconnect 4 injector connections and remove the ventilation hose number 2 from the delivery pipe before taking off wire harnesses along with release clamps. After removing the two bolts, extraction of the delivery pipe containing the four injectors becomes possible before you can take out the two spacers from the cylinder head. The installation process requires applying gasoline or grease to new O-rings before installing them on the injectors as well as the delivery pipe contact points. Apply the fuel injector inside the fuel delivery pipe while rotating it clockwise then counterclockwise and slide in each of the 4 fuel injectors before installing them by avoiding O-ring twisting during the process and verifying smooth movement; replace the injector if mobility issues arise with a new O-ring placed at the bottom of the connector. Place the two spacers on the cylinder head before mounting the delivery pipe with its four injectors while temporarily bolting down the delivery pipe. Position the injector connector toward the outside before tightening the 2 bolts onto the cylinder head at 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf). You must connect the fuel tube sub-assembly followed by a leakage check and end by installing the engine cover sub-assembly No.1 and the air cleaner cap together with the air cleaner hose.
