2006 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the rear axle hub and Wheel Bearing assembly on the LH side on 2006 Toyota Avalon?
A: You must eliminate the rear wheel from its position to change the rear axle hub and bearing assembly on the left-hand side of the vehicle. The next step should be disconnecting the rear disc brake caliper assembly LH by unbolting the assembly and uncoupling the flexible hose from the shock absorber before removing the 2 bolts to separate the caliper. A wire or similar tool will stop the brake caliper from sagging through the flexible hose. Severing operations begin with rear disc removal before detachments from the skid control sensor through unplug of its connector. Remove the rear axle hub and bearing assembly LH through the removal of its 4 bolts. Fasten the new hub and bearing assembly LH onto the application using four bolts which need to be torqued to 80 Nm (816 kgf-cm, 59 ft. lbs.). Attach the skid control sensor while being cautious to avoid twisting its wire. To perform the inspection check for loose movement in the rear axle hub bearing while simultaneously examining the hub runout. Install the two bolts on the rear disc and brake caliper assembly LH and tighten them to 62 Nm (632 kgf-cm, 46 ft. lbs.) while avoiding brake hose deformation during the process. To finish the procedure attach the rear flexible hose through its bolt using a torque of 19 Nm (192 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.) then reinstall the rear wheel through torque application of 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) along with a speed sensor signal check.
