2006 Toyota Avalon Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair the Front Speed Sensor on 2006 Toyota Avalon?
A: The replacement of the Front Speed Sensor LH needs front wheel and front fender liner LH removal. Remove the 2 bolts to sever the speed sensor harness connection between the body and shock absorber assembly after disconnecting the speed sensor connector and clamp. You need to first uninstall the clamp beyond the steering knuckle and then eliminate the bolt which has the purpose to detach the speed sensor front LH. After every sensor removal the installation hole and surface need to be cleaned before the task of ensuring no foreign particles remain on the sensor tip. The speed sensor front LH installation requires attaching the bolt followed by torque application to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.). There are two bolts for attaching the sensor harness brackets to the body and shock absorber assembly. Torque Bolt A to 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.) and Bolt B to 19 Nm (192 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.). The clamp should be attached to the steering knuckle without wire harness twisting during installation and then the speed sensor connector can be connected together with the clamp. Reinstall the front fender liner LH and front wheel after torquing the wheel to 103 Nm which equals (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) and verify the ABS speed sensor signal.
