  A: A proper Crankshaft Position Sensor service requires disconnecting the negative battery cable for 90 seconds as an Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation prevention measure. Start by taking out the front fender apron seal RH and then continue to the fan and generator V belt and finally to the generator assembly. The crankshaft position sensor removal process starts by disconnecting the sensor connector before continuing to the connector clamp. You should then take out the wire harness from its clamp bracket before removing both the sensor clamp and bolt. When you install the sensor pay attention to the O-ring condition first then apply engine oil to it before mounting the sensor with bolt torque at 9.0 N.m (90 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf). Install first the wire harness clamp followed by the connector clamp then join the sensor connector while making sure the wire harness remains in position through the back of the rib of the timing chain cover.
