The process to replace the Front Seat Outer Belt Assembly LH in a Double Cab begins with following necessary air bag service precautions for safety. Wait 90 seconds from disconnecting the black negative battery terminal while holding a cable before starting work to stop the Air Bags from deploying. Access to the center pillar garnish lower and upper becomes possible when workers remove both the front and rear door scuff plates and front and rear door opening trim Weather Strips. Begin by removing the lap belt outer anchor cover as well as both the lower and upper components of the center pillar garnish on the left-hand side. First disconnect the pretensioner connector on the front seat outer belt assembly LH while also removing the nut and shoulder anchor and the bolt and retractor. Dispose of the front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly through the removal of the bolt and subsequent disconnection of the two claws. The front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly requires you to first place its claws inside the body hole before tightening a bolt to 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf). First check that the front seat outer belt assembly LH retractor locks properly by verifying its alignment before installation; if the retractor shows any issues with this function change the front seat outer belt assembly unit. Hook the lower stay of the retractor to the body hooks and install the retractor with a bolt while torquing it to 8.5 N.m (85 kgf.cm, 75 in.lbf). Connect the pretensioner connector before securing the shoulder anchor with a nut torqued to 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf). The floor anchor of the front seat outer belt needs to get installed with a bolt torque set to 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf). Verify that the shoulder anchor rotates smoothly during this installation process. Test the ELR lock function while a belt is present. In case of failure, install a new front seat outer belt. The installation procedure includes placing back the center pillar garnish upper and lower LH, lap belt outer anchor cover, rear door opening trim Weather Strip LH and front door opening trim Weather Strip LH, rear door scuff plate LH and front door scuff plate LH. Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal through a 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf) torque after which check the SRS warning light.
