2005 Toyota Tacoma Seat Belt Parts Q&A
Q: How to Replace the Rear Seat Belt in a Double Cab on 2005 Toyota Tacoma?
A: The process to replace the Rear Seat Belt Assy Outer Center in a Double Cab requires starting with the rear seat back hinge cover and proceeding to remove the rear seat back frame sub-assembly RH and the rear seat shoulder belt cover. Start by taking out the rear seat belt assembly outer center through these steps: remove the bolt attached to the floor anchor of the rear seat belt outer center and rear seat belt inner, insert the belt through the hole to the rear seat back frame, next remove the bolt securing the rear seat belt outer center. Check locking conditions of the ELR by making gentle retractor inclinations; the system should not lock at 15 degrees and must lock at 45 degrees or more. The retractor should align with the positioning hooks on the rear seat back frame structure before securing it with a bolt torqued to 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf). Put the belt through the designated opening of the rear seat back frame after securing bolts that fasten both parts of the rear seat belt outer center to its floor anchor using 42 N.m (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) torque while avoiding floor panel convex areas. Reinstall the rear seat shoulder belt cover in addition to the rear seat back frame sub-assembly RH and rear seat back hinge cover.
