Service and repair of the brake booster assembly without VSC requires removal of front floor footrest, front door scuff plate LH, cowl side trim board LH, instrument panel under tray (automatic transaxle), instrument panel hole cover (manual transaxle) and instrument panel finish panel lower No.1. Rerouting the driver side junction block enables the removal of the brake master w/plate cylinder sub-assembly through the use of Special Service Tool: 09023-00101. Masters cylinder push rod clevis needs separation before you detach the vacuum hose and remove four nuts to pull out the brake booster assembly and discard its gasket. Install a new unit gasket onto the brake booster after reassembling the 4 nuts to 14.2 Nm torque value (145 kgf-cm or 10 ft. lbs.), then secure the vacuum hose connection. Reinstall the master cylinder push rod clevis and the brake master w/plate cylinder sub-assembly by using Special Service Tool: 09023-00101. Install the driver side junction block at 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.) torque followed by the instrument panel finish panel lower No.1 then under tray (automatic transaxle), hole cover (manual transaxle), cowel side trim board LH, front door scuff plate LH and front floor footrest. Connect the cable to the negative battery terminal while torquing it to 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 inch lbs.).
