2005 Toyota Tacoma Air Injection Pump Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Air Injection Pump on 2005 Toyota Tacoma?
A: Before beginning the replacement of the Air Injection Pump start by disconnecting the battery cable from the negative terminal. The removal process starts when you unfasten the 2 bolts from the washer jar to create space needed for air pump assembly extraction. The first step requires removal of the air injection system No.1 hose as well as disconnection of the air pump connector followed by unclamping of the wire harness. Take out the 3 bolts to separate the air pump with bracket and remove the component. Post-removal disconnect the air pump connector clamp then detach the 3 fittings of the air pump insulator to extract the air pump from the bracket. Before installation you must connect the 3 fittings of the air pump insulator before mounting the air pump onto the bracket and then connect the air pump connector clamp. Fasten the air pump and its bracket together by tightening 3 bolts to 18 N.m (184 Kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf). Next, connect the air pump connector along with the wire harness clamp and install the air injection system No.1 hose. Reinstall the washer jar by tightening its 2 bolts to 6 N.m (56 Kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) while also reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal which should be torqued to 3.9 N.m (40 Kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf).
