2005 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front seat belt in a coupe on 2005 Toyota Solara?
A: The front seat belt replacement process for a coupe requires starting with the removal sequence of rear seat cushion assembly, rear seatback assembly LH, rear seat back hinge sub-assembly LH, front door scuff plate LH, quarter trim panel assembly front LH, and front seat inner belt assembly LH. Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner connector only after waiting 90 seconds following the engine switch-off plus battery disconnect. The first step is to remove the seat belt cover before taking out the four bolts while also extracting the outer belt. Proceed with the front seat assembly LH removal and disconnect the connector before removing the bolt and inner belt. When attaching the inner belt with its bolt position the assembly to a torque specification of 42 Nm (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf). Examine the retractor slope because it should let the belt reach 15 degrees or fewer when drawn and complete 45 degrees or higher when in the locked position. The system requires new outer belt assembly replacement. Change the outer belt by tightening bolt A to 7.5 Nm (77 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf) and bolt B to 42 Nm (430 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf). After reattaching the pretensioner connector and putting on the floor anchor cover, test the ELR lock by tugging on the belt swiftly. A replacement of the outer belt assembly should be performed if belt locking fails to happen. The last step requires reconnecting the negative battery terminal then checking the SRS warning lamp before activating system operation.
