2005 Toyota Solara Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the blower motor on 2005 Toyota Solara?
A: The first step for servicing or repairing the blower motor requires removal of three components: instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly with passenger air bag assembly followed by heater to foot duct No.1 and stereo component amplifier assembly. Start with the ECM removal for 2AZ-FE and 3MZ-FE engines before disconnecting the blower connectors and extracting the screw and clamp and blower connector holder and removing the 5 wire harness clamps. The stereo component amplifier assembly requires the detachment of 2 wire harness clamps and air conditioner models need specific connector removal based on manual A/C (4 connectors + clamp) or auto A/C (3 connectors + clamp). The blower assembly can be removed after removing the 2 screws, 2 nuts and the blower assembly itself. Move the clean air filter by first releasing the two fitting claws followed by removing the air filter sub-assembly from the front cooler frame. Start by detaching cowl wire number two from its clamp before removing the recirculation damper servo sub-assembly by unwiring the three screws and air inlet servomotor. Manual A/C models of instrument panel wire No.3 require users to disconnect two connectors and remove three clamps however auto A/C models need users to remove two clamps along with disconnecting two connectors. To access the manual air conditioning blower resistor you must unscrew the two screws from it while the auto air conditioning blower motor control requires disassembly through two screw removal. You should remove the blower with fan motor sub-assembly through 3 screw removal. Attach the blower assembly by using 2 screws together with 2 nuts then check the torque of 1.5 Nm (15 kgf.cm, 12 in.lbf) on the nuts. Manual A/C models require the clamp installation followed by connection of 4 connectors but auto A/C versions need both clamp installation and connection of 3 connectors. First cut in place two wire harness clamps for stereo component amplifier assembly then attach five wire harness clamps before using a screw and clamp to secure the blower connector holder before finish installing the connectors. Finish the installation by placing the passenger air bag assembly inside the instrument panel safety pad sub-assembly.
