The beginning of rear axle shaft reassembly requires the placement of the backing plate onto the bearing assembly after which you need to use a press along with two socket wrenches to install serration bolts. Before securing the nut on the new hub bolt with torque you must first place the new gasket and oil deflector on the axle shaft. For installing the rear axle shaft into the backing plate, attach the plate and both a spring washer and bearing retainer to the shaft. Use Special Service Tool: 09631-12090, 09950-60020 (09951-01030) and a press to install the shaft into position. A snap ring expander serves to place a fresh snap ring. Install the new speed sensor rotor and bearing retainer using Special Service Tool: 09631-12090, 09950-60020 (09951-01030) together with a press on the differential side where the standard length should be 132.8 plus or minus 1.0 mm (5.228 plus or minus 0.039 inch).
