2005 Toyota Land Cruiser Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the Air Bag sensor assembly on 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser?
A: A proper repair of the Air Bag sensor assembly requires front seat deinstallation followed by shift lever knob transfer and subsequent removal of upper console panel and rear console box containing the console rear end panel and front console box and center lower cluster finish panel assembly. Disconnect the Air Bag sensor connector when the assembly is already installed and then remove its three bolts to uninstall it. The installation process requires new SRS components exclusively because the safety regulations prohibit using damaged sensors after a collision and performing repairs on them. The Air Bag sensor assembly requires three bolts for installation which need to be torqued to 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf) while the Air Bag sensor connector must be connected only after the assembly is fully installed. Check the sensor assembly torque while inspecting it for any dents or cracks because replacement of the sensor assembly may be necessary. The SRS wiring must be free from contact with other vehicle components and should not experience pinching. A post-installation loose condition of the sensor assembly should be verified through sensor shaking. To complete the repair you must reinstall the center lower instrument cluster finish panel assembly as well as front console box and rear console box with console rear end panel together with upper console panel and transfer shift lever knob and front seat while inspecting the SRS warning light.
