2005 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Condenser on 2005 Toyota Highlander?
A: The first step to replace the cooler condenser assembly begins with refrigerant discharge from the refrigeration system using Special Service Tool: 07110-58060 (07117-58080, 07117-58090, 07117-78050, 07117-88060, 07117-88070, 07117-88080). Unglue and detach both the battery and radiator grille. The process to replace the condenser cooler assembly starts with disconnecting discharge pipe A through bolt removal and O-ring replacement before sealing both ends with vinyl tape to block moisture and foreign matter. After disconnecting the refrigerant liquid pipe A from the cooler system the same procedure must be followed. Take out 2 bolts from the cooler condenser assembly to separate it from the 2 radiator upper supports while sliding the upper radiator part toward the front. First install the bush on the lower side through the cross member then fasten it with 2 bolts tightened to 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf). Finally re-establish the radiator upper support through 2 bolts torqued to 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf). According to the document, technicians should remove the vinyl tape from cooler refrigerant liquid pipe A before applying ND-OIL 8 or equivalent compressor oil to the O-ring and pipe joint. The installation requires a new O-ring followed by a bolt connection with 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf) torque. Apply compressor oil to backing parts of cooler refrigerant discharge pipe A before torquing the connection to 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf). Conclude the process by charging refrigerant using Special Service Tool: 07110-58060 (07117-58060, 07117-58070, 07117-58080, 07117-58090, 07117-78050, 07117-88060, 07117-88070, 07117-88080) according to a nominal limit of 650 plus or minus 50 g (22.93 plus or minus 1.76 oz.) while warming up the engine and conducting leak tests.
