2005 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the blower motor on 2005 Toyota Highlander?
A: Service and repair the blower motor requires removal of the glove compartment door assembly followed by the air duct No.2 which can be unfastened with three claw fittings. You should disconnect all connectors before removing the two nuts that allow you to extract the ECM. The clean air filter sub-assembly becomes removable after releasing both claw fittings that serve to disconnect the air filter sub-assembly. Now remove the air refiner element from the air filter cover plate. The blower assembly installation requires disconnecting the cooling unit motor fan sub-assembly connector and clamp and then disconnecting the recirculation damper servo connector before removing the 2 screws and bracket and finally the bolt and nut and 2 screws. The blower assembly removal process ends by disconnecting the component attached to the air conditioner radiator assembly. The removal of the recirculation damper servo sub-assembly requires you to disconnect the 3 screws in addition to the air inlet servo motor. The cooling unit motor sub-assembly w/ fan demands removal of the 3 screws. The blower assembly requires alignment with the air conditioner radiator assembly before securing it with a bolt, nut and two screws where the torque should be set to 9.8 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 87 in.lbf). Fasten the bracket into place through its two screws while reconnecting the connector followed by the clamp. Use 2 nuts to mount the ECM before tightening them to 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm; 49 in.lbf).
